Welcome to Florida Ecomania, where all things Florida-friendly are discussed: local food, homegrown veggies, conservation, native plants, and smaller-footprint living. I also write about my adventures in Florida culture, cookin', and recreation.
I work as a writer and editor at the University of Florida. I write a radio program, "Gardening in a Minute," and create marketing and communications materials.
I live in the town where I grew up, but have also lived in Holland, Seattle, and Los Angeles.
My favorite things include enjoying Florida's waters as a swimmer, on a dock, or in motorboat, sailboat, kayak, or canoe; cooking; reading; traveling; and bicycling.
I'm currently learning how to fish, garden (even though I write about gardening, I'm not the best in practice), and watch birds.

Very cool - I've noticed these around my neighborhood too. Are they in your lawn? 'Cause if they are, I'll be diggin' up my lawn this weekend! :D
