This weekend I went to the Kanapaha Spring Garden Festival. But I forgot to take any photos (of the festival)! It was crazy -- about half the county was there, and there were plants everywhere. I'm not allowed to buy any plants, though, until I take care of the ones I have already (and have been neglecting).
It was an overcast, cool day, and I spent it with people who mean a lot to me. There were Sally and Max, who is pretty much edible.
And Amanda and tiny, brand-new Audrey.
The rest of Amanda's family was there, too, but I didn't get a picture of them!

I wish I could have gone!
Hi, I was here...enjoyed your blog.
Being from Minnesota, I didn't know what 'mocassins' were until I looked more closely at your photo. I thought you meant there were shoes in the road !
The Rock and Roll Gardener
Neza - Be glad you didn't know what Mocassins are. They extremely agressive poisonous snakes that are common in Florida. I didn't realize how dangerous they were until I saw an episode of Crocodile Hunter and Steve actually looked cautious around one. Sarah- I'm bummed out about missing the Garden Festival. I love Kanapaha. Any good bamboo for sale?
Hi Neza,
Sorry -- moccasin is Florida shorthand for the water moccasin snake, also called the cottonmouth. There's a good description of the cottonmouth here: http://ufwildlife.ifas.ufl.edu/water_moccasin_watersnake_comparison.shtml
Wicked Gardener, I would actually disagree with you that moccasins are aggressive. They just don't run away from people as fast as most other snakes, and will attack if feeling threatened. But they don't really go out of their way to attack people (or we'd all be in trouble).
Emily and Wicked Gardener, the Garden Festival was really fun, but it was a little overwhelming! I didn't see any bamboo, but I was too busy saying hi to everyone I know and looking for porch plants with Sally.
